Street Legal LSV Rentals on the Emerald Coast

On this site the words "golf cart" describe a body style only. Beach Better rents titled and plated Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs), motor vehicles under Florida law; a true golf cart is not street legal and is not what we rent. Every unit is an LSV under Section 320.01, Florida Statutes and 49 C.F.R. 571.500, from 76 N Holiday Rd in Miramar Beach, Florida, next to the Cumberland gas station. Every rental includes LED underglow, a Bluetooth speaker, the Florida plate and registration, the outdoor rated charging cord on electric carts, a signed delivery checklist and 2 approved drivers; each additional driver is $15 (extra driver form).

Delivery is free in 4 zones: Destin, Miramar Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, and Seagrove and Inlet Beach on 30A (free delivery details). Carts are staged the morning the rental starts and the window is confirmed by text within 24 hours. Store self pickup uses a 24/7 lockbox at 76 N Holiday Rd with a curbside discount for Destin and Miramar Beach. Some HOAs do not allow LSV rentals; check the Neighborhood Rules before booking.

  • Cancel 11 or more days before your rental start date and your payment is refunded less a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations 10 or fewer days before the start are not refunded. Early returns are not refunded.

    If Beach Better requires the vehicle back because of a hurricane, tropical storm or other unforeseen safety issue, unused days are prorated and refunded. If the vehicle is recovered for prohibited use (driving on US Highway 98, riding without seat belts, carrying a child under 4 without a proper restraint, an unapproved driver), the rental ends and the refund for unused time is $0. Booking a property whose HOA or resort bans rental carts follows the standard cancellation policy. Full wording: Terms and Conditions.

  • Every driver must be 22 or older for the entire rental, hold a valid driver's license, carry auto insurance in his or her own name, and be listed and approved on the executed rental agreement before driving. Two drivers are included; each additional driver is $15 and e-signs the extra driver form before driving. A spouse must be listed too. Lockbox codes go only to approved, listed drivers. Letting an unapproved person drive is prohibited use: it voids RCP and Damage Forgiveness and shifts every claim to the renter.

  • No. A true golf cart is not street legal. Beach Better rents Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs): titled, plated, federally classified under 49 C.F.R. 571.500 and Section 320.01, Florida Statutes, with a federal top speed cap of 25 mph. The words "golf cart" describe the body style; the law treats the vehicle as a motor vehicle. Details: Florida LSV laws.

  • Roads posted 35 mph or under, including Scenic Gulf Drive and 30A. Off limits: US Highway 98 (Emerald Coast Parkway) and Business 98 including their shoulders and pedestrian paths (cross only at a signalized intersection where the crossing road is 35 mph or under), sidewalks, the beach and sand, dunes, trails and any road posted above 35 mph. The Marler Bridge in Destin is car only. Map and statutes: Florida LSV laws.

  • Confirm with your property manager before booking; the rules are set by HOAs and resort management, not by Beach Better. Many communities allow owners to have carts but bar renters from renting them, and seeing carts on the street is not proof. Beach Better does not deliver to Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seaside, WaterColor, WaterSound or Prominence. Use the Neighborhood Checker; if your property is not listed, text (850) 830-4699 and it is checked free.

  • RCP is real third party insurance underwritten by National Interstate Insurance Company, not a damage waiver: $39.50 per driver per day, $500 deductible, $20,000 maximum payout (3 days $118.50, 5 days $197.50, 7 days $276.50). It covers collision damage to the rental vehicle during the active rental, at fault or not, including backing and curb strikes. It does not cover theft, intentional damage, other people's property or injuries, or damage caused while violating the agreement. It must be purchased before the rental agreement is signed, is per driver, and is non transferable and non refundable once added. Without RCP the renter is personally liable for every dollar of damage regardless of fault. Details and claims: RCP page.

  • An optional $8.00 per day add on that covers the first $250 of damage to the rental vehicle. It is not insurance and does not replace RCP. Details: Damage Forgiveness.

  • The renter's and driver's own motor vehicle insurance is primary under Section 627.7263, Florida Statutes; the rental owner's coverage applies only above the limits Florida law sets. If RCP was purchased, it responds to collision damage to the rental vehicle after the $500 deductible. Steps after any accident, even a minor single vehicle one: call 911, stay until released by law enforcement, never admit fault, get the police report number, text (850) 830-4699 once the scene is secure, open a claim with your own insurer and pass the claim number to Beach Better. RCP claims require the police report; call Corporate Claims Service at (267) 332-0814, extension 119 or 115, and mail the claim form within 90 days. Reference: Florida LSV laws and RCP.

    • Call 911 and report the accident. Do not leave the scene. Obtain an accident report from the sheriff. Treat it the same way as an accident in your car or truck. To report an accident, click here.
    • When conditions and regulations permit, move onto the shoulder or side of the roadway to prevent further damage or hazards.
    • Keep calm. Be courteous. Do not argue. Make no statement concerning the accident to anyone except a police officer. Get the officer's name and badge number. Make no settlement.
    • Obtain the names and addresses of witnesses and of all persons injured, however minor the injury. Try to learn where the injured are treated.
    • Text the Beach Better rental team at (850) 830-4699 to report the incident. An Incident Report form is required to document all damages involved in an accident.

    Stranded carts due to dead batteries and lost keys are not emergencies; those needs are handled during business hours. A stranded recovery or tow is $200 flat; a lost key or glow remote is $50.

  • Delivery is free in Destin, Miramar Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, and Seagrove and Inlet Beach. The cart is staged the morning the rental starts and the window is confirmed by text within 24 hours; you do not need to be home. The lockbox code is emailed at 7 AM the day before and texted again once the cart is staged; the lockbox sits on the passenger floorboard of a 4 seat electric, the middle row floorboard of a 6 seat electric, and under the middle row seat on the gas tank of a gas cart. Hotels and resorts are sometimes possible; confirm first. At the end, leave the cart and the key where it was delivered. Store self pickup at 76 N Holiday Rd uses a 24/7 lockbox and is typically the lowest priced option, with a curbside discount for Destin and Miramar Beach. Details: free delivery.

  • Electric: plug it in at the end of every day on a dedicated outlet and return it plugged in at 90 percent or more, or a $100 fee applies; never run it below 50 percent. Gas: return with a full tank of 87 octane unleaded or pay the $30 refuel fee, or prepay fuel for $6.00 per day. Late return is $100 per hour; a lost key or glow remote $50; a missing charging cord $50; a stranded recovery or tow $200; citations and tolls are charged at the full amount plus a $35 administrative fee per item; damage is charged at the actual repair cost.   • LED underglow, a Bluetooth speaker (EcoXGear SE-18 on gas carts, BEYOND on electric carts), the Florida plate and registration, the outdoor rated charging cord on electric carts, a signed delivery checklist, 2 approved drivers and digital status updates. Optional add ons: extra driver $15, Damage Forgiveness $8.00 per day, RCP $39.50 per driver per day, removable storage box $6.50 per day.   • All four. Live rates show on every cart and update with your dates, cart type and delivery zone or pickup; a monthly rental carries the lowest per day rate. Single day rentals depend on fleet availability, typically Sunday to Thursday outside peak summer. Groups of 7 to 12 take two carts; a gas four seater is not offered (all gas units are lifted six seaters). Electric range in 90 degree heat runs about 25 to 35 miles on a 4 seat cart and 22 to 32 miles on a 6 seat cart, charged nightly. Compare carts: rental page.

  • Yes. Seat belts at every seat for every rider, always (Section 316.614, Florida Statutes); no standing, no lap riding, no belt sharing at any age. Child restraints follow Section 316.613: through age 3 a crash tested, federally approved separate carrier or the cart's integrated child seat (a booster is not sufficient); age 4 or 5 a separate carrier, the integrated seat or a booster. Beach Better does not supply or install restraints. A vehicle observed without belts or with a child under 4 unrestrained is recovered with a $0 refund. Statutes: Florida LSV laws.

  • Renting is agreeing to an electronically signed rental agreement with Destin Sunshine LLC d/b/a Beach Better, governed by Florida law; the e-signature is binding under Sections 668.004 and 668.50, Florida Statutes and 15 U.S.C. 7001. The agreement includes an assumption of risk: an LSV sits higher and weighs less than a car and can tip or roll over in a sharp or fast turn, and the renter accepts those inherent risks for every driver, passenger and guest, including any minor signed for. Disputes go to binding individual arbitration in Walton County, Florida under the Federal Arbitration Act, with class action and jury trial waivers. 1. Motor Vehicle Classification (Not a Standard Golf Cart)

This is a registered, titled, and plated Florida Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) as defined under Florida Statutes. It is classified as a motor vehicle, not a golf cart in the legal sense. Because an LSV weighs significantly less than a standard passenger vehicle, handling characteristics differ substantially. Operating an LSV requires heightened care regarding steering input, speed management during acceleration, sharp cornering, navigating uneven pavement, adjusting for adverse weather, and executing sudden stops. 2. Binding Agreement & Age/Insurance Requirements

By completing this booking, you execute a legally binding electronic agreement governed exclusively by the laws of the State of Florida.

  • Age Requirement: All authorized drivers must be at least 22 years of age.
  • Primary Insurance Designation: Pursuant to Section 627.7263, Florida Statutes, the renter’s personal automobile liability and personal injury protection insurance shall serve as the primary coverage for any property damage, bodily injury, or loss arising out of the operation or use of the rental vehicle.   • Driver Verification: Every operator must hold a valid driver’s license, be explicitly pre-approved by management via our Extra Driver Approval Form, and maintain active auto liability insurance in their own name prior to operating the vehicle.

3. Safety Instructions & Operating Rules

Every Beach Better vehicle includes its own specific operator guide outlining starting procedures, charging/fueling protocols, handling dynamics, and restricted roadways.Copies of both Florida LSV statutory guidelines and our specific operating manuals are available across multiple checkpoints:

  1. Online prior to booking completion via our Fleet Renter Guide.
  2. Via written electronic delivery immediately upon booking confirmation.
  3. Via digital re-delivery on the first day of your rental period.
  4. On-demand via our website at all times on our Terms and Policies Page.

Review all instructional guides, rental agreement terms & conditions and Florida LSV statutes prior to operating the vehicle. Operating the vehicle without reviewing these materials constitutes a material breach of your rental agreement and an express assumption of all associated risks. 

4. Alcohol, Drugs and Handheld Devices

An LSV is a motor vehicle, so Florida DUI law (Section 316.193, Florida Statutes) applies to it exactly as it applies to a car, with the same 0.08 limit, the same arrest, the same license consequences. Zero alcohol, zero cannabis or impairing medication, and zero handheld device use while the vehicle is moving (Section 316.305). Any one of these is prohibited use: the rental ends on the spot, the vehicle is recovered, the refund for unused time is $0, and every claim shifts to the renter.

5. Rollover, Tip Over and Ejection Warning

An LSV has no doors, no airbags, a short wheelbase and a higher center of gravity than a car. It can tip or roll over in a sharp turn, at speed over a curb or a speed bump, on a slope or on soft ground, and riders can be thrown out. Slow to a walking pace before every turn, never turn sharply above 10 mph, keep all four wheels on pavement, and never ride with anyone standing, sitting on a seat back or armrest, riding on the rear deck or on a lap. One rider per seat belt: 4 riders on a 4 seat cart, 6 riders on a 6 seat cart, children counted. The renter accepts these inherent risks for every driver, passenger and guest.

6. Weather, Night and Road Conditions

Wet pavement roughly doubles stopping distance and an LSV has no anti lock brakes. Do not operate during a lightning, tornado or tropical storm warning, in standing water, or on sand. Headlights on from dusk to dawn and in rain. Watch for gravel, loose shell, storm drains and pavement edges; drop a wheel off the pavement edge and the vehicle can roll.

7. Vehicle Condition and Defect Reporting

Every vehicle is inspected before it is staged and the signed delivery checklist records its condition. Before each drive check the brakes, steering, tires, lights and seat belts. If anything is wrong, do not drive it; text (850) 830-4699 and the vehicle is swapped or repaired. Operating a vehicle with a known defect, or continuing to drive after a warning light, a noise or a handling change, is prohibited use and the renter's own risk.

8. Prohibited Use (Summary)

The full list is in the Terms and Conditions. In short: US Highway 98 and Business 98 and their shoulders, any road posted above 35 mph (Section 316.2122, Florida Statutes), sidewalks, bike paths, the beach, dunes and trails; towing, pushing or carrying loads; racing, stunts or off road use; more riders than seat belts; any driver not listed and approved on the agreement; any driver under 22; disabling or modifying the speed governor, lights or belts; leaving the key in an unattended vehicle; and commercial or for hire use. Prohibited use ends the rental with a $0 refund and voids RCP and Damage Forgiveness.

9. Assumption of Risk, Release, Indemnification and Dispute Resolution

The rental agreement contains an express assumption of risk, a release, and an agreement to defend and indemnify Destin Sunshine LLC d/b/a Beach Better, its members, employees and agents against claims, damages, fines and attorney's fees arising from the use of the vehicle by the renter, any driver, passenger or guest, to the fullest extent Florida law allows. Disputes are resolved by binding individual arbitration in Walton County, Florida under the Federal Arbitration Act, with class action and jury trial waivers. Florida law governs. 10. Emergencies and Reporting

In any crash, injury or rollover: call 911 first, stay at the scene until law enforcement releases you, make no statement about fault to anyone but the officer, get the report number, then text (850) 830-4699. Report every incident, including a single vehicle tip over with no injury, the same day; an Incident Report is required and the renter's own insurer is the primary carrier under Section 627.7263, Florida Statutes.
